That is connected with the spread of religion, the Imperial creed, throughout the territory of the Imperium. But in the 40th millennium, the skull becomes one of the most prominent emblems in the heraldry of all civil and military units. The entire culture of the Imperium was built on Imperial Truth, a rational atheistic philosophy. In other cases, it is a secondary element of armor decoration. The Night Lords Legion uses the bat-winged skull as the crest of the Death Guard Legion, a skull in a circle with teeth. So in the 30th millennium, the emblem of the skull is not often found. But its history is clearly divided into the 30th and 40th millennia. And the symbolism of the skull in Warhammer clearly demonstrates this. Symbols change along with human culture, reflecting the different vectors of its development. For all the external gloom, the symbol of the human skull carries many positive meanings.
